This is a basic question but having just bought a 600watt DC generator and knowing that DC is susceptible to voltage drop over distances can someone advise me as to the type of wire I should use from the turbine to the controller, and where I can get it.
The generator will be mounted on my roof about 6-7 metres high and about a 20-30 metre cable run to the charge controller and batteries.
I was considering using standard ring main 3-core wire (2.5mm), is that ok? Thanks

10 gauge wire like the kind in a heavy duty extension cord should be fine.

I inadvertently crossed the positive & negative lines, connecting a hybrid controller for a 12VAC generator. When I connect the batteries now, I get a negative draw on my amp meter reading, and the dump load resistors get hot. What part or parts have I damaged, that need to be replaced?

Unfortunately, the controller is probably dead now. Is there a fuse that you can replace?
