  1. Here are a couple of photos of a WindGen Power (www.windgenpower.com) installation at an orphanage in Karatu, Tanzania. Featuring WindyNation dump loads! (see below, mounted in the cages)

    Very cool!

Are those Hugh Piggot style wind turbines? The sure look very similar.

  3. Hi windyguru,

Yes, these are Piggott-style axial flux PMA turbines. We've adapted the design to be suitable for manufacturing here in Nairobi in order to offer lower-cost off-grid energy for people here in East Africa (a lot of people here are off-grid...)

    Thanks!

It's great to see the wind harvested where it will make a real difference.
Great Job! Those are some nice tall towers, I'll bet that keeps them working for you a good part of the time.
Hugh sure is the pioneer, he has done very well in coming up with a design that is, not only reproducible but really puts out the power.
I'd be interested in learning what modifications you've made to make them suitable for manufacturing there.
It's obvious that with with the dump load you have that you are able to keep your storage well topped off and in good shape.
Are those TriStar controllers ... you must have a solar array there also?
    Thanks for posting!
