I thought you guys might be interested in seeing how the Windtura yaw mount is robotically welded together. There are four welding stations on the jig. Snap the part into the jig, hit go and the robot does the rest.
When it comes to production line welding, robotics is a winner, hands down. Makes for a consistently uniform, very strong, dependable product. I'll also always admire how people can fabricate one-offs with welds stronger than the base metal. Wish I had that ability. Free's up the people to do the creative stuff, I can't imagine it would be much fun, or be productive, to do the same welds again and again.
