Wind Turbine Output Issue

  1. Hi all,

Hoping I can get a hand to overcome a little technical issue with my turbine. On the label, it is rated at 400w, 12v DC output but when I put the multimeter across the two cables (when the multi-meter is on DC mode
), I get all sorts of random readings. That made me think it could be outputting in AC. Sure enough, when I flick it over to AC, I get a constant 12v AC output. I can only assume the built in bridge rectifier is stuffed.

So what I'm wondering is, can I run the two wires down close to my battery, and run a bridge rectifier close to the battery and hook it up there. I have a Wind Controller and dump load resisters to keep the supply correct to the battery.

I'm a bit confused on the wiring with the bridge rectifier. There are 3-phase rectifiers in the Windy Nation store but I'm assuming I will only need a single phase rectifier? I haven't been able to find any that would handle a 400w 12v turbine. Or is there a way to hook up a three phase to my single phase output.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Matt
