Watt Meter Blowing Fuses

Discussion in 'Watt Meter' started by John Shea, May 11, 2013.

  1. I just mounted the Watt Meter today and though the Xantrex Complete Charge Controller is not yet hooked up to the batteries, I did connect the Watt Meter Load wires to the batteries. Unfortunately, the 30Amp In-line automotive fuse blew immediately. Twice. I don't have a clue as to why this happened. Below is a photo of the interior wiring which is wired according to the directions. Any ideas why the Watt Meter is blowing fuses?

  2. Evidently, the Watt Meter LOAD side cannot be connected to the battery bank before the SOURCE side is connected to the batteries. I would suggest that be included in the installation instructions.

That is incorrect. The Watt Meter LOAD side can and should be connected to the battery bank before the SOURCE side is connected.

Sounds like a short? Disconnect the turbine and or the batteries and do process of elimination or you have a blown watt meter.
"That is incorrect. The Watt Meter LOAD side can and should be connected to the battery bank before the SOURCE side is connected." .............................This is correct

    Hope this helps:)
