Rover Install in Spain

Discussion in 'Photo & Video Contest!' started by Jesus, Feb 17, 2014.

  1. After nearly a year after I bought my Rover we're finally getting round to the install. This is for a 100% off-grid hybrid sun & wind system. Currently we're on 12v - 220v but at the point of install I am changing the system to 24v. The turbine is to be sited aprox 41m from the new battery house.

The pics are of the plinth being excavated, 1msq frame for concrete, steel platform with leggs to be set in concrete and the channel for the cabling, for which I am using 75mm dia drainpipe. Next week the metalworker will come with my new 120mm x 120mm x 4mm (4.5m high) tower and weld it to the metal plate in the concrete plinth. I'll add som emore pics then.

    COOL, How about an update!

  3. I'm almost there!!!! Many other real life 'issues' have delayed things, but now I am almost at the finish line. The tower is up, the turbine is wired (no blades on yet), IP67 quick disconnect plug & socket @ the tower is fitted, the 16mm2 cable is run underground in pipe to the newly built power house, solar extractor fan fitted and the OSB board is fitted ready for the equipment to be mounted. I will be changing all of my current 12v solar panels for c250W 24vdc (x3) and replacing my 12v leisure batteries for 6v Rolls @24vdc in the next couple of weeks or so. Once I have purchased these last items I'll be ready for the final install.

I have the Xantrex C60, 80 amp Rectifier, Rover Turbine, 600w Dump load, Mastervolt 24/2500 and a stop switch! I know I'll need some fuses too but at the moment I'm having a bit of a nightmare in getting my head around the wiring for this lot and in which order the components need to be wired. Any help on this matter would be seriously appreciated.
