P30L not working

Discussion in 'Start here' started by Paddyo, Dec 3, 2017.

  1. Hi, I've been using my P30L charge controller all summer with no issues.

The weather has dropped into the 30'system and I no longer have a display, and it doesn't seem to be working anymore.

The only change has been the weather so that's what I believe to be the problem.

I'm using my system for a pond aeration so it has to be able to work year round. I have my battery bank, charge controller, inverter out in a field which puts the controller outside.

My question is does anyone know if the cold weather can be the issue, and will it start to work again when it warms up? Thank you, Pat

Is there any chance the controler got wet?
Or was there a lightening strike close by?
Do you have a lightening arrestor in your setup?
This time of year isn't the best for producing solar power. However the display should still work even if the battery bank is low but not dead.

The LCD can be effected by cold temperatures but here are two items to check:
    1) Battery voltage must be 9VDC or greater for the LCD to operate
    2) Try resetting the controller by removing battery power for one minute and then reconnecting
