hi every body im new here and i wanted to show my outback system. just got it yesterday its an outback GVFX-3524 with a FLEXMAX-80 MPPT CHARGE CONTROLER AND THE MATE AND 8 195-W EVERGREEN PANELS. i instaled it my self now it may not look very profesianal but when your on a fixed budget you have to get creative and use what ever you have at hand. the main thing is that it works perfect and im happy with it. so with that been sed here are some pictures o and also i can monitor the system with mi servailance system. well now im just waiting for one of windynation WINDTURA 750 just order it so cant wait to hook that up.photo.JPG[/attachment:1mqydc5w]photo.JPG1.JPG[/attachment:1mqydc5w]IMG_1927.JPG[/attachment:1mqydc5w]CAMS.jpg[/attachment:1mqydc5w]
Nice looking system, it'll be nice to have a hybrid system. Looks like you get plenty of sun there, where are you located? Keep up the great work and keep us posted. Dave
thanks i really appreciate your input. i just got the turbine and put some paint on it. i think if its not too windy today ill be putting it up. ill post some pictures my thought is since i have the surveillance system I'm going to point one cam to the turbine and one to the gages along with a wireless weather station so i can get readings on wind speed and voltage and amps all at the same time. and this will be in real time. this pma generator is awesome i put a voltage meter on it and gave it a spin with just my hand and got very close to 20 volts with just one spin that is something else. I'm trying to figure out how i can allow people to see it in real time with out having to give out my pass word for logging in. dont want every body to see my daily activity so i know i can give acsess to what ever cam i want. so it will be 2 of my 8 cams.I'm not sure exactly how many people can log on at the same time. but i believe it could be up to 10 or so i will keep you posted. thanks again for your response.
I will assume you have a tower of some sort already. Is the Outback system capable of handling both the Solar and Wind turbine or will you be using a separate controller/ diversion? Appears to me to be set up as an off-grid system, perhaps as backup power as well as supplementary power or are you grid-tied? Just curious ... Dave
yea its alredy up i just dont whant to put on the blades yet kuz we get some hard winds up here in barstow. and the outback is not for solar.so i was told by the tech support. but yea its capable of grid tie. so im waiting to get the Xantrex C60 and a dump load.and hopefuly soon youl be able to see in real time thru my web cam what this unit is capable of. also if you have an iphone thers an app for that or android too.solar and wind.jpg[/attachment:33k74whq]
Re: OUTBACK SYSTEM/WINDYNATION TURBINE well i finally got it going very Happy with it its got looks and more important its got power here are the new pics now i just hope management wont give me any hassle.batt.JPG[/attachment:3r6ofpqs]my bird.JPG[/attachment:3r6ofpqs]my bird 1.JPG[/attachment:3r6ofpqs]
Re: OUTBACK SYSTEM/WIND TURBINE HI THERE EVERY BODY I JUST WANTED TO COME BACK ON HERE AND SHARE A THOUGHT AND A PICTURE. I'M WORKING ON SOMETHING THAT I THINK ALLOT OF PEOPLE HERE ARE GOING TO LIKE. I'M GOING TO SET UP A WEBSITE WHERE ANYBODY CAN LOG ON AND VIEW MY CAMERAS.YOU CAN ALSO SEE THEM WITH A SMART PHONE SUCH AS THE IPHONE OR I BELEVE ANY ANDROID PHONE AND GET- REAL WORLD- REAL TIME- INFORMATION ON WINDY NATION'S 750 TURBINE.WHICH I THINK ITS PUTTING OUT MORE THEN WHAT IS ADVERTISED. AND IT STARTS ROTATION AT A LOWER SPEED THEN ADVERTISED.THERE WILL BE A TOTAL OF 3 CAMERAS TO SEE ONE WILL BE POINTING TO THE TURBINE ONE WILL GIVE YOU REAL TIME WIND SPEED/TIME/AND TEMPERATURE.THE OTHER WILL GIVE YOU VOLTAGE AND AMPERAGE..HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE UP AND RUNNING THIS MONTH SOME TIME. I WILL KEEP YOU GUYS POSTED AS SOON AS I GET THE METERS THAT'S BASICALLY ALL I'M WAITING FOR.ALSO I HAVE A QUESTION DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THE NEW EDISON DIGITAL SMART METER IS CAPABLE OF GOING BACKWARDS LIKE THE ANOLOG ONE. (IE)GRID TIE. IF ANYBODY KNOWS OBOUT THIS PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANK YOU.Untitled.jpgdvr.jpg[/attachment:ye1pcaxn]
GETTING SOME REAL GOOD WIND UP HERE IN BARSTOW CA, SO FAR IVE GOT 26 AMPS FROM WINDS OF 17 TO 19 MPH THAT'S OBOUT 630 WATTS ON A 24VOLT SYSTEM. CANT WAIT TILL I GET MY ANALOG AMP METER AND VIEW IT ON MY CAMS. SO I DONT HAVE TO GO RUN OUTSIDE WITH MY CLAMP ON METER EVERY TIME I SEE WIND SPEED OF 17 TO 19 MPH. GETTING TIRED OF THAT.LOL
WELL GOT IT UP AN EXTRA 2 FEET HOPEFULLY I CAN EVENTUALLY GO UP HIGHER. HAVE TO DO IT THIS WAY SO AS TO GIVE THE NEIGHBORS A CHANCE TO GET USED TO IT.I'M NOT SAYING BY ANY MEANS THAT'S A BAD LOOKING UNIT. ON THE CONTRARY I THINK ITS VERY NICE LOOKING. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. ANYWAYS THERE KIND OF PICKY OVER HERE. SO IN ANY CASE I'M SEEING SOME GOOD POWER OUT OF THE 750 WINDTURA IN A 26.4 VOLT.TAKE A LOOK FOR YOUR SELF. I'M THINKING ITS DOING JUST AS GOOD AS THE BERGEY.AT A FRACTION OF THE COST.
Hi Orlan7s, Great to see you have the 750 flying! I'd be happy too with the output you are seeing, getting it up higher and away from turbulence should also prove beneficial. Nice hybrid system you've got, don't know about the new type meter I'm sure others who do will chime in to let you know. Dave
yea i would like to have it up higher too so i can take advantage of the steady wind. but the problem is i live in a mobile home park. and its a nice park.and even tho i own the home the land is there's. and I'm afraid they may tell me to take it down if its too high. so I'm kind of trying to ease it up a little bit at a time.i noticed yesterday the manager drove by and was checking it out. so i think ill go in today and chit chat with her and see if she tells me anything.you mention something about the meter. its not a good meter? if you know of a better one let me know. i also would like to get 2 better cameras so once i put it on the web it will be a more crisper picture.i was told by the dvr manufacture that up to 10 people can log on and view the the (turbine/wind speed/meters). all at the same time.cant wait to get that up and running. it can be viewed right now but if too many people log on it will slow down my internet so i rader have it like a server tipe but that will cost me 60.00 dollars and after buying every thing im flat broke. so going to have to wait for a wile.thank you for you're complement.and ill keep you posted when i get things going.
I was referring to the "EDISON DIGITAL SMART METER" you mentioned, saying that I don't know anything about it. Guess I worded it kind of funny. Your equipment all looks "top notch" to me. Dave
o yea i went ahead and tryed it and it does show the arrow going backwards. some body had coment that these new meters weren't capable of going backwards.
On some Smart Meters the Arrow will change direction (during Net Generation) but the Meter will not reduce your consumption reading. In fact, it may add your Net generation amount to your consumption instead of subtracting. Have you actually seen your Consumption Reading decrease?
O' O' THAT'S WHAT I HEARD. SO INSTEAD OF SUBTRACTING IT WILL ADD.AND NO I HAVEN'T REALLY LOOKED AT IT. I JUST ASSUMED. AND I KNOW WHAT THEY SAY WHEN YOU ASSUME.THAT IF IT WAS GOING BACK THAT IT WAS SUBTRACTING.JUST HAD THE METER PUT IN ABOUT A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO.SO WHEN THEY PUT THE METER IN IT STARTS AT ZERO? OR DOES IT RESUME THE OLD COUNT. I'M KIND OF CONFUSED ON THIS.KUZ WHEN THE GUY PUT THE METER IN I SAW A COUNT OFF. 000 11
I THINK IT IS GOING BACKWARD. ILL MAKE SURE TOMORROW.BUT HERE'S A QUESTION. IF EDISON CAN GET THE READING WITH OUT SENDING AN EMPLOYEE TO PHISICILY READ THE METER. CAN THEY ALSO KNOW WHETHER THE METER IS OR HAS SPIN BACKWARD?
i made a couple of short videos i think you guys might like. just copy and paste on your browser. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EywHRYC3kzA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeVhPQ1V6tI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70sQagQvxJ4
Orlan7s, Just watched the videos. I love them! We had some big winds also today in Ventura. We got to figure out a way to broadcast your Windtura video system live on windynation Also, if you can get your turbine up another 10-15 feet, you will see a nice increase in power. I know that might not be feasible because of where you live. Did you get the charge controller hooked up OK?
thanks really appreciate that. I'm glad you liked them.and yea i talked to the guy that i got the DVR. about that kuz for right now you can view it but. you have to run active-x and set some settings on your browser and you get some pop up's and warnings so some people may shy away from it .so he told me i could use my computer as a server.pay i think he told me 59 or 69 dollars.it's a one time fee and up to 10 people can log on. so i think that will be pretty cool.just got to get caught up with some things so I'm thinking next month i should have it up and running.and believe me i would love to have it up higher and get away from the turbulent wind. but i think ill wait a wile and sneak it in there. a little bit at a time.LOL. the manager shes cool with me. but i don't what to push my luck.and yea i just got the charge controller hooked up but not to the dump load ill finish that part tomorrow.I'm going to have to do allot of cleaning on the back yard. that wind blew some shingles of my roof and knock down a bunch of stuff it was pretty crazy. thanks again for your support.if i get it sooner ill post it on here.take care
