hey JR your looking good.sept your backwards spinnin rig makes me drunk.we had kickass wind today.my 20amp meter from an old Sears batt charger is busted.its all jammed up in the corner.but the wind was a rare find...time to gear it.
talk about gearing..if the genny is not perfecly centerd with the driven shaft its a failure...very critical to get them with in .001 if not you need "horse power" to over ride the miss match.so that means more wind power.
Fix it guy...can you explain better for a green guy like me...I balanced and centered everything...I'm a pipefitter and everything is square with the world... genny mean generator?
Ok so I just need to spin faster in low wind and have a pmdc motor similar to an ammetek...so windy's blade description for turbo blades seems like a possible answer to me... "if you live in an under 12 mph wind area and need to spin a pmdc fast to reach charging voltage then these are the blades for you"
Don..i have a set of aluminum blades i made.very similar to store bought.5 and 3 blade with hubs..i could send them to you.maybe they will help you determine whats up...but these spin clockwise...so you;ll have to change pos with neg wires.pay shipping and borrow them..if you like um keepum...5/8 bore with .312 key...we little guys gotta help each other.
yes genny is generator...you say its all squared up..is that framing square and level built? you need indicators and micrometers to make bearings perform and last.

Wow the site was down and now back up and the forums look the same...was there a problem upgrading? My offer still stands to try and help with the phpbb upgrade... As for my wind generator...I'm patiently waiting for a package in the mail...it withstood some high winds last night that ripped the shingles off my deer blind though!

My Dad must really enjoy my Deer Food Plot Camera and Videos... He Stopped by today and dropped off a Chicago Electric 45W Solar Panel Kit to help keep the Tower Deer Blind Camera Running 24/7... So now this thing comes with two 15W Solar Panels, a Frame and a Solar Charge Controler and two 12v Lights!... Now I'm keeping the windmill and the solar... But my Dilema is do I run the Solar Panel through my Coleman Charge Controller or Do I run it through the one that came in the solar panel kit? Here's some Photo's...
howdy Don. the old knee is pretty bad...at my age when screws work loose under the kneecap it aint good...but HEY i still have one good one. the mind is willing just the old body breaking down some. ive had plenty of spare time to think a geared system..actually using proven math. my boss is the coolest dude around...i give him drawings and when he has time he builds the parts. all the "go round" stuff is finished...he tell the welder "your on wind detail"...weld it well...so soon i'll have a proper turbine that should produce 30 V and huge amps... he does have a problem with me parting with the blades and hub..." but Paul you and me hand formed them blades".lol i said a deal is a deal...i'll not face the wheel...he tipped his hat.
That's cool on the geared system! Hope that knee gets better! Tell the boss that if they work out I'll be smiling and very thankful! If they don't I'll send them back!
Well Turkey Hunting Season is over and I never saw a Tom, So now I can work on the Genny! Gotta shingle the roof, install my solar panels and get new blades for the genny!
