I am considering the HyperSpin Aluminum blades for a treadmill motor. The motor I have has a 6" cast iron flywheel/fan that threads on the shaft. Do you have a reccomendation for attaching them to the motor?
Hi, First, what are the specs of your treadmill motor (voltage, amps, rpm)? It might not be any good for use as wind turbine motor http://www.windynation.com/articles/wind/making-wind-power-how-choose-right-motor If you take the flywheel off the shaft of the motor, I assume there is some type of threaded shaft on the motor where the the flywheel bolts on? If there is, what is the diameter and of the threaded portion? If you are really lucky, it just might mate with one of our hubs mounting holes (1/2 inch, 5/8 inch and 17 mm). Lastly, once you post the specs of your motor, I will be able to help you with blade selection.
Ok I have found the information. The treadmill motor is 260 VDC 5100 RPM 5 amps 2.25 HP @ 260 VDC The shaft has 1/2 X 13 left hand threads 7/8 of the shaft is threaded. The rest of the shaft about a inch is o.67 in dia. there is a flat sholder at the transition. The total shaft length from the motor to the end is 1 7/8 thanks
