Mixing Solar GTI with Wind GTI

Just finished checking out using Solar and Wind GTI together on my wind turbines.
    It kinda works.
While the wind GTI controls the voltage and the solar follows. It does not always share the load. Sometimes it drops out and shares non of the load. But when it does share my voltages climb a little higher and hold. Then come back down slower than before.
So they are not a good match but it does work some of the time.:(

Have the equipment I just have to try guys.

  2. Hi Tom ..... do you think one can use the Sun GTI for solar as well for wind ? Perhaps you remember me ...... , i have a dump load chargecontroller attached to the 300 w Wind GTI ... but the 10 Volt starting Mpp is too low for my windturbine so would like to get a 500 or 1000 watt starting at 22 Volt model

    Is there a difference ?

    Thanks

I am in kinda testing stages of that. Since I split the system I am finding out I have better wind on the front turbine. The one in the valley gets less .
Will keep you posted. Winds are just starting up right now.
The 5 blade 35 inch blade setup cuts in around 6 mph on a 10.8-30 volt GTI
The 3 blade 35 inch blade setup cuts in around 7 mph on a 22-60 volt GTI
I also posted elsewhere about the SunG wind GTI being more aggressive at holding the voltage down. The Solar GTI will over volt real fast.
All I can say if all you get is steady winds I would try it.

  4. Thanks Tom , sounds good the solar GTI would perhaps work better than , in parallel with my charge controller

I know of others as well using the solar version with Wind ....

If you have steady winds you can use a SunG solar gti with a wind turbine. The hybrids are junk. Have tested a few and they have all failed.
But the solar GTIs are quick to over volt if you get into gusty winds.
