Inverter Meter Discrepancy

Discussion in 'VertaMax Inverters' started by Lauris Aragon-Mata, Feb 3, 2017.

  1. Aloha,
The 1500w Modified Sine Wave Inverter meter consistently reflects +/-1V less than the battery bank. Is this amount within specifications, or, is there a way to calibrate?
    Mahalo for your help:)

How are you determining the correct voltage of you battery bank?
    And when are you checking?

  3. Checked with multimeter various times of day and night.

Are you checking at the battery terminals or the inverter terminals?
How long of a cable run from your batteries to the inverter?
What Gauge wire from wire to inverter?

  5. Aloha Solar Guru...
I'll check the wire sizes and lengths and get back with you.
I'm measuring at the battery terminals.
I'm new to solar living and climbing up the learning curve.
    Thanx for your help!

You always will loose some power in your wire run.
For best performance and the least power loss runs from a battery to inverter should be no longer then 5feet and as heavy gauge as possible 4/0 .
This is because power draw is heaviest at this point.
This article states the wire can be the same as wire size from the array to the battery bank but this is only true in lightly used setups.
I'd recommend wire size the same as the battery connections or heaver.
