Help in designing wind system

Discussion in 'Windtura Generators' started by Daver, Nov 18, 2011.

  1. Hi all. I have been researching the best way to configure a wind generating system and thought I had it pretty well figured out until I began reading this forum. Some of you are so far ahead of me in your knowledge of wind systems I have come to the conclusion you would be the best ones to design a system for me. To put it simply, I want to install a system that continually dumps to the grid. I know I will not be able to generate all my needs but would like to slow the meter some. I live in the Chicago area so we do experience our share of wind. I would really appreciate it if you guys would give me some idea of each piece of equipment I would need to purchase from the wind generator to the grid tie in. Thanks in advance. Dave

First we need to know what turbine you are looking on purchasing.

  4. Thanks Tom. I appreciate your response. I am new to this forum and was really impressed with all the postings you and others have done. Obviously you guys have been there and done that. I know my first posting was a general cry for help but after reading all the threads I realized I didn't really have enough equipment knowledge to make any good decisions regarding equipment purchases. I would probably have poured good money after bad designing a system which may or may not have worked for me. I will look at each piece of equipment you have recommended above (some of it is Greek to me) and try to figure it all out. Hopefully I won't be too much of a pain with additional questions. Keep posting. I really enjoy reading what you guys do to try and improve your systems. Daver

Whatever you do, stay away from any product, person, ebay ad, or website that pushes car alternator based turbines.
