anyone just use lighting for a dump load , it would be fine with me if my shop lit up from time to time from a dump of unused power . DC lights ?? small inverter for lights ???
You can use lights ONLY if they provide enough of a load to load your turbine. And more importantly you have to ALWAYS be around to make sure you can replace the light(s) if they burn out. Because when they do burn out (and they will), you need to replace them immediately to keep your turbine under load. I would recommend not using lights as a dump load. It is much better to stick with a reistor or heating element. They are much, much more reliable.
Two of these if you are going for a 12 volt system: http://www.windynation.com/shop/index.p ... oductId=23 Or two of these for a 24 volt system: http://www.windynation.com/shop/index.p ... oductId=24 If you look through the wiring instructions for the WN 100 amp charge controller, it shows how to wire up your dump loads in parallel: http://www.windynation.com/web/cc_guides_100amp
