  1. Upgraded charging system for BMW motorcycles..use a Bosch 700 watt belt drive alternator and your 80amp 3 phase rectifier to knock it down to 13-16V.

Have over 20 installed with no problems but now I have 2 that are overcharging at 20V..all installed the same way..

How do I check the rectifier? Or did I buy a knock off the last time I bought a couple and they failed?

    Thank you

The rectifier will not regulate the voltage. Have you replaced the two suspect units to see if the problem goes away?

The rectified DC voltage from 3-phase AC is about 1.4 x AC voltage.

For example, if the AC voltage is 10 VAC, then the rectified DC voltage is about 14 VDC.
