Connecting to "the grid" when you have a P30L controller

  1. I am completing my solar panel installation on my motor home and am concerned about damage to the controller/panel when I plug into shore power, as that starts charging the batteries through the converter. Do I need to disconnect or turn the solar panel off before connecting to shore power?

    There should be no issues.
Charge controllers send power to the batteries and once a battery bank is at a specific level it switches to maintain.
However A diagram of your wiring to the battery bank would be helpful. As long as your converter wires to the batteries and not directly to the P30L controller I see no issue.

Your solar system and the shore power should be wired in parallel with each other and the battery bank.

There should be no issues if this is done
