How is the new and improved 750 PMA coming? Are you guys making any progress on the WindyNation frame, and will it furl? Any ideas on the prices yet? BeachBum
The frame should be available for sale around October. We will post some pictures of the finalized prototype in a week or two. There is no conclusion on the price yet but we are hoping to offer a complete 500 Watt wind turbine for around 600 dollars. We will have a few 750 Watt PMA's in mid-August. If you want one, let us know and we will reserve it for you.
I'd definately be interested in a 750! Will it use the same frame as the 500, and does the frame have a furling tail? Will you incorporate a slip ring, and what size pipe will you use for the tower? Looking forward to those pictures. BeachBum
The new mount system is designed to furl. Your question if the same mount will take a 500 and 750,, The same style of mount should be ok but due to the 750 being a much larger / heavier turbine modifications may be required to balance the mount and to accommodate a larger turbine housing. There may have to be some new math if changes in the furl are required due to the differences in the two turbines. The prototype used for testing, I have been informed that it will be ready for testing very soon but the test unit most likely not have a slip ring. BUT this does not mean the finished product will not have a slip ring. The reason for testing first is to look at what works well, what might be changed to offer an even better finished product to customers. On the price that Windy quoted for the future complete packages on a 500 watt system. Try to find that good of a deal from anyone else ! Not only a good deal financially but the blades, the turbines and now the mounts will have been tested and proven by customer and real time feedback on the products allowed on the forum for others to make their own choices. Most important for those wishing to be part of solar / wind, it will eliminate a greater expense financially and of time eliminating all the learning curve mistakes that many of us have endured. WINDY, I also require info on the size of tower pipe it is designed for to prepare the tower.
Thanks Murray, Don't get me wrong when I asked about the price. I don't doubt the value of the 750. I just wanted to know how much money I had to hide from my wife to buy it. I don't want her to think I have a crack problem or something. Just kidding. You know as we get older, our toys just change a little bit. BeachBum
Here is a peek at the prototype turbine mount. This is pretty much the final design. The only things you do not see in the photo are the pipe mount (for connecting the turbine to the tower) and the slip ring + slip ring housing. We will try to post a youtube video of the turbine furling at ~33 mph. We did a lot of driving the turbine around on the truck to dial in the furling speed. http://twitpic.com/22thdm
Looks Awesome! Put me down for your first frame sale, along with a set of 35" WindGrabber blades to go on the Windy500 I just bought from you. I can always continue farting around with my frame, while I have a unit in the air. I'm serious. You know my email. Send me an invoiced price, I'm ready. BeachBum
Better yet, sell me a 750 PMA with it! Yes, I've gone and lost my mind. Must be this summer sun. BeachBum
BeachBum, I got one 750 Watt PMA coming for you. If you decide you do not want it, that's OK ... someone else will probably buy it. If you want it set-up as a complete turbine with one of our mounts, we can do that. But, that will have to wait until late September when we roll out the complete turbine.
