Amps from solar panel at .5

  1. Hi,
I just setup my 100 watt kit using p30L charge controller. Everything looks good, but I’ve noticed that the charge controller says my panel is only producing .5 amps in full sun. Is this because my batter is full and the controller is in float charge mode?

Yes although I'm not familiar with your charge controler most limit the amps going in to avoid over charging once in float.

  3. hello I have had the same problem how do you change out of float mode?

Any inverter I've used goes into float mode to keep batteries in a full charge state. This is a low rate of maintenace charging to avoid over heating and gassing of your batteries. If your contriller is always in float that is a good sign unless your batteries are dead which would mean the controller is defective. The only way the charger should go out of float is if your batteries are low and you have power coming into the controler from your solar panels, or you have no power coming into the controler.
As I stated before I'm not familiar with this controler or what type of batteries your using.

The charge controllers I have I set for lithium batteries.
As that will allow the max charge.
Then I set for 14.0 on battery volts.
Then it charges max till it gets to 14.0 then they reduce or turn off.
I have a larger battery bank so this is not a problem.
My batteries do not over heat or even get warm.
