I currently run a 12 volt system however I wish to move to 24. The obvious advantage of requiring smaller cable sizes doesn't affect me as all runs are already done, unless I add another array or turbine. The only expense I'll experience with this is a new inverter, unless I wish to keep some of my 12 volt lighting. I'd love to hear the communities thoughts on this and I'm sure the experts will weigh in. What I've learned so far: I hear 24 volt inverters are usually more efficient. Wiring size requirements mentioned above as well as being able to do longer runs. My charge controllers will handle twice the Number of panels. There is an advantage as well with the battery bank although I'm not clear on it. I believe it will last twice as long before requiring a charge? Note: I'll add to the list as others reply with additional info!
