the 750 can charge 12 or 24v correct?? is this because it makes 26 or better volts or is there a switch on the unit..???
Correct, the Windtura 750 can be used to charge 12 or 24 volt battery banks. This is because its volts to rpm ratio of the generator is geared for these systems (12/24). Please refer to the power curve and truck test videos to see what type of power you can expect for 12 and 24 volt set-ups. There is no switch on the unit. It can be used "as is" for 12 or 24 volt batteries.
so ...what is the voltage at say 10 mph..?? or does the battery voltage force it up to battery voltage...please elaborate...thanks
Before any current will flow, the generator voltage has to exceed the battery voltage. You will see a lot of turbines spinning fast but no charge is going into the battery until the rpm is high enough for the generator voltage to exceed the battery voltage. That is why it takes much higher rpm to get a charge going into a 24V battery bank vs. a 12V battery bank.
Yes, please go to the product description and watch the youtube videos of power vs. wind speed. There are two videos. One video is of the Windtura 750 charging a 24 volt battery bank and the other is of the Windtura 750 charging a 12 volt battery bank: http://www.windynation.com/products/wind/generators-and-pmas/windtura-750-complete-wind-turbine-kit
